Rosalie was born on August 3, 1924, to John W. and Catherine (Klein) DeWitt on the family farm near Roseland. She attended Assumption Catholic Schools for three years before graduating from Roseland High School in 1942. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and taught in various country schools for ten years. The highlight of her life was her trip to Europe and attending the inauguration of Dwight Eisenhower. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Anne, and one brother, John C.

Rosalie enjoyed talking to anyone who was within earshot and over the telephone. She enjoyed giving little gifts and writing warm notes. She loved to play cards-pinochle and pitch-with her faithful friends. Rosalie delighted in holding children and petting animals. She loved her Catholic faith and helped the church and Catholic schools by aggressively selling chicken noodle dinner tickets, calendars, quilt tickets, etc. She looked forward to going to Altar Society and Catholic Daughter meetings. She gave advice to everyone and, though one would kind of wonder about this advice, it was quite amusing and actually turned out to be good, sometimes. Bright red fingernail polish, big jewelry, and curly hair was her style. She shared many a witty saying and could quip with the best. Rosalie was a character like no other. Goodbye, Rosalie. May your soul rest in peace with your Father.

Survived by: Many friends, church family, and her caregivers at Perkins Pavilion
