Rose M. Theis, 79, of 919 Highland Dr., Hastings, Nebraska died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Tiffany Square, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, August 7, 2007; 7:30 p.m. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 8, 2007; 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust.

Rose M. Theis was born October 6, 1927 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Thomas and Mary (Pavelka) Mazour. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944 and moved to Hastings. On January 14, 1946 she married Francis E. Theis in a double wedding ceremony with Rose's brother Ervin Mazour and his wife Erma Gilsdorf. Rose worked as a proofreader at the Hastings Daily Tribune for nineteen years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a past member of Lochland Country Club and Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She taught bridge lessons at the YWCA and was an avid duplicate bridge player. She and her husband chaired St. Cecilia's duplicate bridge for many years. She achieved "Life Master "status in the American Contract Bridge League.

Rose M. Theis was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Susan Theis, son, Jeffrey Theis, grandson, John Stark, brother, Ervin Mazour, and two sisters, Dorothy Skalka and Helen Kotinek.
