Hastings resident Rosemary Ruth Gfeller, 97, formerly of El Dorado, KS passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, NE.
Services are 2 p.m., Friday, April 6, at Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado, KS. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in rural Butler County. Visitation will be Friday, April 6, at the church 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. with family present. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbymorris.com. Memorials may be given to Butler Community College Foundation for scholarship in name of Rosemary Gfeller, Alice Gfeller Locke, and Emma Gfeller or Partners in Education - El Dorado Public Schools Foundation.
Rosemary Gfeller was born September 20, 1920, to Arthur Gfeller and Katherine (Knauss) Gfeller in Burns, KS. Her entire career was devoted to teaching children in schools in rural Butler County and then Eldorado, KS.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and older sisters Emma Gfeller and Alice Gfeller Locke.
She is survived by nephews and nieces and their families: Nephew, Dr. Will Locke and spouse Virginia of Hastings, NE; niece, Rosella and spouse the Reverend Dr. Howard Gleason of St. Louis, MO; nephew, the Reverend Dr. Eugene Locke and spouse Mary of Charlottesville, VA; niece, Katherine and spouse Thomas Klamm of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous grand nieces and nephews and families.
