Roy Orr

Hastings resident, Roy L. Orr, 85, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be Saturday, November 16, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Book signing will be Friday, November 15, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Roy was born February 2, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio to Russell & Beatrice (Morris) Orr. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, Ohio in 1946 and attended trade school in Chicago. Roy served with the U.S. Army from May 1946 - August 1947. He married Ann George on December 15, 1951 in Youngstown, Ohio. Roy worked as a service technician for industrial heating and air conditioning and Hastings Industries. He was also a Lay Minister in Talmage, Nebraska at the Zion United Church of Christ. Roy moved to Lillian, Alabama in 1991 with his wife Ann; she preceded him in death in 2004. He married Corrine Schardt in September 2006; she preceded him in death in 2011. Roy returned to Hastings in 2012. He was a member of Lillian United Methodist Church in Alabama, past Commander of Talmage American Legion, Good Sam's Campers Club, and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Ann Orr and Corrine Orr; sister & spouse, Ethel & LeRoy Nelson; and brother-in-law, Joseph George.
