Former Hastings resident, Roy W. Trupp, 85, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Journey House at Tabitha, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, September 17, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Robert Smith and Pastor Timothy Kemnitz officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Mr. Trupp was born June 28, 1931 to Jacob & Amelia (Scheibel) Trupp in Hastings, Nebraska; he was the youngest of eight children. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953 during the Korean War.
On March 25, 1951 he married MaryAnn Oltman in Hastings. They were married for 65 years. He worked for the City of Hastings in the street and alley department from 1960 until 1996. The last years of his employment he was the Street Superintendent. One of his greatest accomplishments was passing the eight hour test to become the Street Superintendent.
Mr. Trupp was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as a trustee for many years.
Mr. Trupp was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Flora and Lucille; and five brothers, Floyd, Carl, Lawrence, Jacob Jr., and his twin Ray.
