Ruby Herrington

Hastings resident, Ruby E. Herrington, 69, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at her home. That same day, she and her husband, Monty celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Memorial service will be Tuesday, June 4, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Additional services will be Friday, June 7, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Sutton & Son Funeral Home, Paris, Illinois with Pastor David Laborde officiating. Burial will be in Embarrass Cemetery in Redmon, Illinois.

Ruby E. Herrington was born November 5, 1932 in Marion, Kentucky to Courtney & Pauline (Rutherford) Garriott. She grew up in Edgar County, Illinois and graduated from Redmon High School, Redmon, Illinois. She married her high school sweetheart, Monty Herrington on June 1, 1952. She was employed at U.O. Colson Company in Paris, Illinois. Ruby was an extremely devoted wife, mother and grandmother, encouraging her family through many relocation transitions, due to her husband's career growth and success. Ruby's skills in organization and attention to detail made otherwise difficult situations very manageable. She was a homemaker and a member of Berean Bible Church where she was an active prayer chain participant. Throughout her life, Ruby was involved in numerous church and youth activities.

Ruby E. Herrington was preceded in death by her parents.
