Sam Davidson

Hastings resident, Sam Davidson, 77, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Memorial Services will be Friday, August 4, 2017; 10:30 A.M. at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Hastings with Pastor Dustin H. Bower officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Sam was born December 11, 1939, in Yoder, Wyoming to Silviano & Theresa (Walker) Sanchez. His mother passed away when Sam was an infant so his uncle and aunt Frank Marshall & Emma (Walker) Davidson took Sam in as an infant and later adopted him. He graduated from high school in LaGrange, Wyoming. Sam served in the Army National Guard from 1958 until 1962.

He married Amy Lesser in 1961 in Cheyenne Wyoming and had a daughter Cherie Davidson and a son Cody Davidson, both of Cheyenne Wyoming. He later married Carolyn Buffett in 1968 in Hastings Nebraska and had a son Rodney Davidson and a daughter Tamara Davidson, both of Kansas City Missouri.

Sam had a love for the outdoors he enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, and just being outside. He spent many days enjoying several fishing spots and many nights camping under the stars.

Sam also had a passion for being a truck driver; he transported milk for Mid-Am Dairy, he hauled bread for the Metz Baking Company and then later delivered U.S. Postal Mail for the Little Rock Express. His last few years of driving he enjoyed hauling grain for Ken Kort Enterprises.

He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Norma Jean Perkins & Ann Covalt; and brothers, Tom & Fred Sanchez.
