Sam North

Hastings resident, Sam L. North, 95, of Perkins Pavilion, died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be Friday, January 3, 2002; 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.

Sam L. North was born August 11, 1907 in Adams County, Nebraska to Samuel & Lottie (Shay) North. He attended rural school and began working with his parents on the family farm north of Hastings, Nebraska. After his marriage to Florence Dykeman on July 16, 1930, he went to work for Swift's cold Storage Company in Hastings, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in 2002. In the late 1930's , he worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot until it closed. From 1955 until 1972, he worked in the maintenance department at the Hastings Regional Center. He returned to farming in 1972, retiring in 1996. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and N.A.R.F.E. He was a life long area resident.

Sam L. North was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Florence, daughter, Virginia Hupf, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Memorial may be given to First United Methodist Church
