Sharlene K. Burns

Hastings resident Sharlene K. Burns, 80, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, NE. 

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings with Pastor Kathy Uldrich and Pastor Tim Peterson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date c/o Kelly Sellers, 1208 O Street, Aurora, NE 68818. Sharlene was born on April 9, 1944, in Pleasanton, NE to Harold and Arlene (Marshall) Peterson. She graduated from Pleasanton High School and Lincoln General Hospital in 1965. Sharlene married Richard Burns on August 16, 1964; he preceded her in death on October 18, 2018.

Sharlene worked as an obstetric nurse at Mary Lanning Hospital; retiring in 2006 and continued to volunteer for a combined 53 years of service. She was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church and Friendship Garden Club. Sharlene loved gardening and watching Nebraska volleyball and football. 

Sharlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Burns; sister-in-law, Linda Peterson; and nieces, Nanett Holtz and Nicole Holtz.
