Sherri Bonifas

Roseland resident, Sherri L. Bonifas, 53, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her home following a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Rosary will be Sunday, November 16, 2014; 7:00 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 17, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Thomas Brouillette officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Assumption. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Assumption Catholic Church or Hastings Catholic Schools Trust. Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, November 16, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. with family present at the funeral home, and one hour prior to rosary and mass at the church.

Sherri was born in Fort Collins, Colorado to Dan and Kay McGill. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1979 and was a graduate of Hastings College in 1984. She moved to Colorado following college and worked in Denver before returning to Hastings to begin her career as a Certified Public Accountant. She was licensed in both Nebraska and Georgia. Sherri had a 30 year career in a accounting, owning her own business her last few years. She was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is a past Board Chair of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce and served on several charitable boards and committees. Sherri married Raymond A. Bonifas on September 7, 1991 at the Assumption Church. They farm north of Roseland. They had a daughter Mandi and she loved attending her many activities and events. Sherri also got great pleasure from spending time at her family's cabin on the lake and especially spending time with family and friends. Sherri was dedicated to her career and enjoyed working with all her many clients and the community.

Sherri was preceded in death by her father Dan, and her mother and father-in-law, Aileen and Pete Bonifas.
