Hastings resident, Sherrill Francelia Nielsen, 89, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at The Heritage at College View, Hastings, Nebraska.
Sherrill was born May 3, 1926, in Melstone, Montana, to Arthur A. and Ruth Sophia (Dutton) Kincheloe. Upon graduation from Melstone High School she left for California to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. It was there she met her husband, George W. Nielsen, stationed at Camp Roberts. Together they had three daughters, Cristy Loose, of Hobson, MT, Ruth (Scott) Koch of York, NE, and Georgia Nielsen of Abbot, ME.
Sherrill was active in First United Methodist Church, Quilt Club, Stephen Ministries, Girls Scouts, YWCA, PEO and worked for Sweet Peas for over 20 years. She was devoted to her family, friends and her love of quilting and gardening. She especially loved to decorate and entertain during the Christmas season.
Proceeded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Audrey Zuelke; and brothers Boyd, Wade and Wendell Kincheloe. She is survived by her daughters, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and her two sisters, Dorothy Hendrix of Orem, UT, and Virginia Jennaway of Melstone, MT.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in Melstone, Montana. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or Heritage of College View, Merry Makers (Entertainment Fund).
