Hastings resident, Shirley Jane Cooper, 75, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 8, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at North Shore Assembly of God, Hastings with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Shirley was born May 7, 1938 in Hastings, Nebraska to Harold L. & Mary Helen (Haefeker) Kent. She attended Hastings High School. Shirley married Robert "Bob" R. Cooper; he preceded her in death on January 14, 2011. She was a homemaker, Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout Leader, and cake maker and decorator for special occasions. She was a member of North Shore Assembly of God and served with the Keenagers Women's Ministries, Eagles Campers Club, and Air Force Wives Club. Shirley enjoyed making quilts and embroidering for all her great-grandchildren, world traveler with her husband, and was the best back scratcher in the world.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; step-dad, Harold Phillip Ochsner; husband, Robert "Bob" R. Cooper; and brother-in-law, Kent Mace.
