Hastings resident, Shirley A. Keeler, 76, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, April 3, 2014; 2:00 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Shirley was born November 22, 1937 in Calumet, Michigan to Oscar & Wilma (Kinnunen) Nuottila. She enjoyed (ice) figure skating and skated as a soloist. She took ballet classes during the summers to stay in shape for the winter skating season. She played the French horn in the Calumet High School marching band, where she graduated in 1955. After graduation, she worked at secretarial and clerical jobs. Shirley married Gordon "Pete" Keeler; he preceded her in death on May 22, 1998. She worked as a paralegal for Seiler & Parker Law Firm and was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, "Pete" Keeler; brother, Robert Nuottila; father-in-law, Lowell Keeler; and grandson, Joren Keeler.
