Shirley A. Lorence

Hastings resident Shirley A. Lorence, 89, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at The Kensington in Hastings, NE.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 6, at Juniata United Methodist Church in Juniata with Pastor Kathy Uldrich officiating. The burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 6, at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Morrison Cancer Center. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Shirley was born August 27, 1935, in Smith Center, KS to Claus and Jessie (Finch) Lantis. She graduated from Esbon Rural High School in Esbon, KS in 1953. She married Robert L. Lorence on October 31, 1953; he preceded her in death in February 2010. 

Shirley was the kitchen manager for Hastings Public Schools for 30+ years and retired in 2000. She was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Lorence; daughter, Antoinette Petersen; son, Charles “Chuck” Lorence; and grandson, Maury Lorence.
