Shirley Schmidt

Hastings resident, Shirley Jean Schmidt, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at her home.

Services will be Friday, May 13, 2016; 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2016; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Shirley was born October 15, 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William Frank & Etta Mae (Herrel) Littleton. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1949. Shirley married John "Roger" Schmidt in 1950; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2015. She worked at Mode O Day, Children's Ark, and was bakery manager and cake decorator at Russ's IGA. Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star-Acacia Chapter #39, Daughters of the Nile, Red Hatters and VFW.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John "Roger" Schmidt.
