Shirley Mae Storm

Roseland resident Shirley Mae Heuertz Storm, 92, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at her home. 

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 24, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland with Father Corey Harrison officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery in Roseland. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 24, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Shirley was born June 24, 1932, in Roseland, NE to Raymond and Verna (Pantenburg) Hoffman. She graduated from Roseland High School in 1949 and attended Kearney State College. Shirley married James A. Heuertz on June 9, 1951; he preceded her in death on October 20, 1979. She married Walter H. Storm on September 12, 1981; he preceded her in death on February 28, 1993.

Shirley worked for the Department of Roads in Lincoln and taught school at District 19 near Ayr, NE. She worked for the Hastings Regional Center for 33 years before retiring in 1991. Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the Sacred Heart Quilters. She was active in the Roseland Senior Citizens Group. Shirley enjoyed spending her time crocheting, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, James A. Heuertz and Walter H. Storm.
