Sodona Hedlund

Hastings resident, Sodona J. Hedlund, 79, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.

Rosary will be Thursday, June 16, 2016; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 17, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Book signing will be Thursday, June 16, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Sodona was born June 26, 1936 in Boone County, Nebraska to Joseph H. & Hazel (Langan) Boesch. She graduated from Cozad High School. Sodona married Verdus M. Hedlund on October 30, 1954 in Hastings, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on November 15, 1995. She managed the lunch program at Hastings Catholic Schools, kitchen manager at Lochland Country Club and at the Knights of Columbus Hall, and in recent years ironed clothes for many in her home. Sodona was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved to cook and play bingo, enjoyed watching sports, but mostly spending time with family and friends.

Sodona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verdus Hedlund; infant daughter, Sandra Hedlund; daughter, Debra Hultquist; son, Daniel Hedlund; brother, Martin Boesch; and two sisters, Jolietta Tillemans and Bethene Darling.
