Rural Doniphan resident, Sonja K. Gartner, 52, of 920 West Rosedale Road, died Sunday, December 24, 2006 at her home.
Services will be Friday, December 29, 2006; 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Doniphan, Nebraska with Rev. Rodney Armon & Rev. Mark Middendorf officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2006; 4PM-9PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with family present 6PM-8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Gartner was born January 23, 1954 in Ord, Nebraska to Mervin & Constance (Brown) Winter. She graduated from North Loup Scotia High School in 1972 and graduated from Concordia Teachers College with honors. She taught at Fort Dodge, Iowa before moving to Hastings, Nebraska in 1977. On November 29, 1980, she married Mike Gartner in Scotia, Nebraska. She taught at Christ Lutheran in Juniata, Messiah Lutheran, Grand Island and in 1993, she started the pre-school at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Doniphan. She was very involved in her children's swimming activities & also with her pre-school children at St. Paul's Lutheran. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doniphan.
Mrs. Gartner was preceded in death by her father, Mervin Winter.
