Stephen Wendell Fergus, 65 of Gering died Wednesday July 14, 2010 at Regional West Medical Center.

Celebration of Life Gathering was held on Sunday July 18, 2010; 1:00 P.M. at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Judith Allen officiating. Memorials may be made to the Festival of Hope or Panhandle Humane Society. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jolliffefuneralhome.com . Jolliffe Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of local arrangements.

Steve was born June 13, 1945 in Hastings to Ralph Wendell and Lucille (Arterburn) Fergus. Steve worked for Industrial Irrigation Services of Hastings for 25 years, they moved to Scottsbluff in 1994, where he worked for Sandberg Implement and Armadillo Express. He enjoyed reading, especially history and being outdoors fishing. Steve loved his children and spending time with family.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; daughter, Michelle Fergus; and an infant sister, Mary Beth Fergus.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Nancy of Gering. Son, Michael Fergus and his significant other, Natalie Luebbe and her daughter, Aubrey and daughter, Meredith Fergus of St. Paul, Minn. Mother, Lucille Fergus of Hastings. Brothers, David Fergus of Lawrence; Richard Fergus; Bryan Fergus; and Jerald Fergus all of Hastings. Sisters, Katherine Fergus and Susan Blincow both of Hastings.
