Steven Bernhart

Hastings resident, Steven William Bernhart, 67, passed away and moved onto his greatest adventure, January 8, 2016 9:40 a.m. at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village with a large group of his family by his side.

The celebration of his life and lunch will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at All Saints Chapel at Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village.

Steve was born March 21, 1948 in Seattle, Washington to William Henry Bernhart & Helen Virginia Fields. Steve spent his childhood years in numerous Washington and South Dakota schools and ended his education in the 8th grade. He spent his life working as one of the best heavy equipment operators in the Midwest. He loved moving earth and creating new things. Steve retired in 2005 after being diagnosed with COPD/emphysema.

Steve was blessed with the birth of eight children. In 1966 his son Rich was born. He had a short marriage to Donella Shoultz beginning in 1970 and had two children, Wendy Lynn and Tammy Anne. In 1975 Steve married Carol Rasmussen and had Lynny Yvonne and Amy Beth. He also had daughter Stacy Jo. His final marriage lasted the rest of his life. He married Linda Kay Earl February 15, 1981, gaining step-son Anthony and had daughters Samantha Kay and Gloria Rae.

Steve was madly in-love with his family, especially his grand babies. At the time of his death Steve had 8 children, 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. His main hobby consisted of building and running remote control boats, planes and cars. He also loved to hang out with the boys and go deer hunting.

He was the husband of Linda Kay (Earl) Bernhart. They were approaching their 35th year of marriage.
