Susan Kay Bornemeier

Hastings resident Susan Kay Bornemeier, 75, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at CHI Immanuel, Omaha, NE. 

There will be no services. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warriors Project, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o Jon Bornemeier, 919 North Hastings Avenue, Hastings, NE 68901 to be forwarded together in Susan’s name. 

Susan was born in Tecumseh, NE on December 7, 1949. Most of her schooling was in Tecumseh but she graduated high school in Nebraska City in 1967 and attended Peru State College and Kearney State College. Susan married A Jon Bornemeier. Although many said it would never last, she died four days before their 44th anniversary. Over the years, she was blessed with a son in 1982, Jackson, and a grandson in 2013, Greyson. Over the years she worked for Hastings Public Schools, Dr. Donovan Foote, Ray’s Fireside, and Mary Lanning Snack Bar. After retirement, there was nothing more enjoyable to her than to spend time with Jackson and Greyson.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Gene Hunt; mother, Kathline; and brother, Michael.
