Hastings resident, Sylvester H. "Ted" Kimminau, 79, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at his home.
Rosary will be Sunday, October 14, 2012; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 15, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, October 13, 2012; 10:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Sunday, October 14, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust.
Ted was born October 28, 1932 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Theodore & Clara (Schutte) Kimminau. He served with the U.S. Army from March 1953 until February 1955. Ted married Elaine J. Judy on January 17, 1956 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. He worked at Dutton-Lainson where he was in the shipping, warehouses and billing department as a computer operator and then went to work for Monfort's in Grand Island. He also worked part time at Heritage Bank, Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home, and Catholic Social Services as the donation coordinator. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church; life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1346 in Hastings; life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #9 in Hastings; 50 year member of the American Legion Post #45 in Lawrence; Adams County Military Honor Guard; 50+ year and honorary life member of Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degrees, Charter Class of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree (Hastings); past Grand Knight; past Faithful Navigator; District Deputy; State Church Activities Director; acolyte at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church for 30 years; extraordinary minister; St. Cecilia School Board for five years; and Home School/PTA. He was an avid Husker fan and card player.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Rosanna.
