Thelma Venter

September 12, 1925 — September 10, 2015

Hastings resident, Thelma Lorraine Venter, 89, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, September 14, 2015; 9:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Charles M. Webster officiating. Memorials may be given to Start Over Rover. There will be no viewing or visitation as Thelma's body was donated to science and medical research.

Thelma's father came to America from Norway and her mother came five years later with four children, they were supposed to be on the Titanic but one child was ill and they came later. She was born the last of ten children on September 12, 1925 to Lars & Anne Marie (Borsting) Linsley. Thelma married Milton Venter on June 15, 1946; he preceded her in death on July 17, 2007. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and National Honor Society. Thelma loved dancing, bowling, golfing, working in the yard, sewing and was a huge Elvis fan. She designed floor plans and had over seven houses built from her plans. She was involved in politics and wrote many letters to the editor for the Hastings Tribune and Omaha World Herald. Thelma was a health nut and walked 1-2 miles every day up until she died.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Venter; and siblings.
