Theodore Wayne "Ted" Shriver

Rural Hastings resident Theodore Wayne “Ted” Shriver, 84, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Steven Byrnes officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, southwest of Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date or donor’s choice. Ted was born January 31, 1940, in Hastings, NE to Paul and Vivian (Simnitt) Shriver. He attended Hastings High School. Ted married Estella Kendall on January 6, 1973; she preceded him in death on May 26, 2002. He married Barbara Brenneman on June 4, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hastings.

Ted worked at Hastings Produce, Great Plains, and Hastings Industries. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Ted’s passion for breaking horses and mules led to him being a founding member of Harness Hustlers Driving Team. His love for dogs led him to own Oregon Trail Kennels.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Estella Shriver; brothers, Darrell Shriver and Robert Shriver; sister, Shirley Killinger; and grandson, Kyle Alloway.
