Juniata resident, Theresa "Teri" Hermann, 50, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Sunday, June 2, 2013; 7:00 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 3, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Highland St. Patrick's Cemetery, rural Adams County, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Teri Hermann Memorial Fund. Visitation will be Saturday, June 1, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Sunday, June 2, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday.
Teri Hermann was born September 18, 1962 to Cecil M. & Cecelia A. (Siegel) Bales in Fairbury, Nebraska. They remained there several years before moving to Superior, Alexandria, and finally Glenvil, where she attended Sandy Creek High School. She excelled in many sports including basketball, volleyball, track, and during the summers she played women's fast pitch softball on traveling clubs. She attended Hastings College where she played volleyball and basketball. After college she worked at Thermo King where she met her husband. On August 20, 1983 she married Russell Hermann of Juniata at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Teri was a homemaker raising their six children at home. She then started working at 5 Star Molding after the youngest started school. She loved the opportunity to educate people in fertility care for over 24 years. Teri loved sports, water skiing, snow skiing, camping and 4 wheeling, as well as raising livestock. She held many professional and voluntary positions in various organizations. She volunteered as coach for several youth teams including the Special Olympic track teams. Teri was an active leader in 4-H and Blue Sky Bunch 4-H Club, St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society, Right to Life South Central Nebraska Region, Relay for Life, and AAFFC-P (American Academy of Family Fertility Care Professionals) while she served as parent representative for Region #9 Inter-agency Council, and as practitioner in the Diocese of Lincoln for 24 years. She was the organizer of the Mother-Daughter and Father-Son programs in the Hastings area.
Teri was preceded in death by her children, M.E. Hermann and A.A. Hermann; mother, Cecelia Bales; brother, Barry Kent Bales; and many aunts and uncles.
