Hastings resident, Thomas Egan, 82, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 6, 2011; 11:00 A.M. at Second Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. David B. McCarthy officiating. Private burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to Second Presbyterian Church.
Thomas was born September 15, 1928 in Bradish, Nebraska to William & Ada (Lamb) Egan. He attended school in Albion and Hastings before enlisting in the Army in 1946. He served in the Army from 1946 until 1948 in the Philippines. On March 29, 1960 he married Barbara (Sims) Gibson. He worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot as a maintenance machinist and as an appliance service man and salesman for Rogers, Inc. until 1961. Then he was employed by Farmland Industries until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the V.F.W., lifetime member of the D.A.V. and was a commander from 1976 through 1977. Thomas was also a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. He was an avid race car fan and raced cars at local tracks off and on during 1950's and 1960's.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters; and one step-daughter.
