Thomas Engelhardt

Hastings resident, Thomas Victor Engelhardt, 79, of 1501 North Cedar, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at his home.

Memorial service will be Monday, May 18, 2009; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Remmers and Pastor Adam White officiating. Book signing, with the family present, will be Sunday, May 17, 2009; 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church Development Fund, Morrison Cancer Center or Mary Lanning Hospice.

Mr. Engelhardt was born June 20, 1929 in Clay County, Nebraska to Victor & Katherine (Brening) Engelhardt. He graduated from Sutton High School, Sutton, Nebraska and from Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska. On February 18, 1951, he married Rosalie Ekstrom. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marines during the Korean War from 11-29-1951 - 11-2-1953. He was a farmer and also sold Insurance. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kiwanis, Elks and Chorus of the Plains.

Mr. Engelhardt was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Merle Engelhardt.
