Tom was born March 13, 1932, in Valier, Montana, to George T. and Clara O. (Charnholm) Jorgenson. He graduated from Sheridan High School in Wyoming in 1949. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Hastings College in 1953. Tom was united in marriage to Eleanor Wilcox on June 18, 1953, in Sheridan, Wyoming. Shortly after his wedding, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. His entire two year service was at Fort Ord, California. After advanced infantry training, the war in Korea ended. He then was assigned to the Personnel Division. He was honorably discharged on July 20, 1955. Tom returned to Hastings and his alma mater, Hastings College, to begin his career. He was Director of Admissions, recruiting students for eleven years. Then his focus turned to financial businesses, including securities sales, banking and retail administration. His career came full circle in 2007 when he returned to Hastings College, to work in Alumni and Foundation areas. Tom retired in March of 2012. Many special responsibilities of leadership and awards were meaningful in Tom's life. As a college student he was president of the student body, dormitory mayor and was named Bronco Award winner, the highest non-academic honor given to undergraduates. Some community opportunities for leadership included Rotary president, Lochland Country Club president, member and president of the Hastings Board of Education for fourteen years. With Boy Scouts in his background he enjoyed involvement as an adult with Troop 200. In 2012 Tom was inducted into the Hastings College Pro Rege Society. As a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, he was privileged to serve as Elder and Deacon. Chairing the Search Committee for an Associate Pastor also proved especially rewarding. Tom may be remembered for his love of golf and fly-fishing, especially with his two sons and good friends. Wyoming's Big Horn mountains were treasured his whole life. But closest to his heart was his family, who brought him so much joy and pride.
