Thomas Wickham

Ayr resident, Thomas A. "Tom" Wickham, 58, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

A memorial service will be Saturday, July 9, 2011; 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Josh Davis officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or the Boy Scouts of America.

Thomas "Tom" A. Wickham was born to Edgar L. & Glorian M. (Willmer) Wickham in Fremont, Nebraska on March 30, 1953. He grew up in Valley, Nebraska and graduated from Valley High School in 1971. In 1972, he married Joan Nuttelman, they later divorced. On April 2, 1994 he married Terri Johnson. Tom started in the fiberglass business in 1972 at Snyder Fiberglass in Lincoln, Nebraska. He later worked for Lincoln Electric System and Ravenna Industries in Ravenna, Nebraska. From there he moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1978 while employed with A-1 Fiberglass. After working there for 22 years, Tom decided to start his own fiberglass company with business partner, Bud Zade, called Sunrise Composites, Inc. Tom enjoyed living in the country, camping, canoeing, hiking, and playing cards. He was involved with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years, earning the Silver Beaver Award in Boy Scouts. His training while in the Boy Scouts taught him to "do his best" and is what guided his business and his life.

Tom was preceded in death by his dad, Edgar Wickham; brother, Fred Wickham; and brother-in-law, Gregg Johnson.
