Hastings resident Timothy L. Obester, 52, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019, in Hastings, NE.
Rosary is 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. The family is requesting those attending the service wear casual attire with red, white or blue. Private family burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. There will be no viewing, the family will be present for visitation 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to American Red Cross-Adams County Chapter or Hastings Public Schools Foundation.
Timothy was born November 28, 1966, in Hastings, NE to Darrel L. & JoAnn E. (Brown) Obester. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1986. He served in the U.S. Air Force from November 25, 1986, to February 8, 1993, serving during Desert Shield/Storm from August 2, 1990, to February 8, 1993. Timothy attended the University of Nebraska Kearney when he returned home from service.
Timothy was awarded the following awards and medals during his service in the Air Force: Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal with OLC, National Defence Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Service Star, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Grad Ribbon with OLC, and Training Ribbon.
Timothy enjoyed many activities and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed listening to music and helping those less fortunate. Timothy was very intelligent and would quote Aristotle. He loved reading books and continuing his education and learning.
He was a former Boy Scout, past member of American Legion, and present member of Disabled American Veterans.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents; and uncles, Fay Obester and Junior Brown.
