Velda Philbrick

Former Clay Center resident, Velda M. Philbrick, 96, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, October 8, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at Clay Center United Church of Christ, Clay Center with Pastor Harry Cross and Pastor Delbert "Del" Klover officiating. Burial will be in Clay Center Cemetery, Clay Center. Memorials may be given to Start Over Rover. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at church.

Velda was born April 25, 1919 in Fairfield, Nebraska to Fred C. & Anna (Haase) Kempf. She married Harold Yunko in 1937; he preceded her in death in 1985. Velda married Leonard "Lenny" Philbrick in 1989; he preceded her in death in 2003. She worked as a secretary for the Clay County Courthouse and insurance companies. Velda was a member of Clay Center United Church of Christ, American Legion Auxiliary in Clay Center, the Women's Fellowship Club, and attended the Senior Center. She was also a member of Crooked Creek Country Club where she loved to golf.

Velda was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Harold Yunko and Leonard "Lenny" Philbrick; two brothers; and one sister.
