Hastings resident Velma I. Leech, 90, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Good Samaritan Village, Grand Island, NE.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings with Pastor Kent Rogers and Pastor Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge, NE. Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital For Children. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. with family present 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Velma was born August 15, 1927, in Enders, NE to Elsie William & Nora Cleaon (Yingling) Kinder. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1944. Velma married Dave Leech on January 17, 1947, in Norton, KS; he preceded her in death on April 2, 1992.
Velma was employed as a bookkeeper at First National Bank in Cambridge and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, and Christian Builders Sunday School Class. Velma was very active in church activities and went on numerous mission trips with Grace United Methodist Church.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dave Leech; two sisters, one brother; and one grandson.
