Hastings resident, Velma I. Schwartzkopf, 85, died, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, January 20, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday, 1 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the funeral home and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Velma I. Schwartzkopf was born September 21, 1925 in Ayr, Nebraska to George & Elizabeth (Bostock) Bird. She graduated from Hastings High School. Velma married Harry D. Schwartzkopf on June 21, 1943 in Hastings, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2007. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) for 23 years.
Velma I. Schwartzkopf was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry D. Schwartzkopf, brother, Don Bird, two sisters, Doris Sittner, Dorothy Heath and granddaughter, Niki Schwartzkopf.
