Verlene True

Former Hastings resident, Verlene Mae True, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at THE MONARCH Assisted Living/Hospice facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. Prior to a brief stay at THE MONARCH, Verlene lived at The Legacy Retirement Community in Lincoln.

Services will be Friday, July 13, 2012; 2:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society. Visitation will be Thursday, July 12, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., and Friday, July 13, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Verlene was born May 22, 1933 in Ayr, Nebraska to Carl & Tina (Goos) Buss. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1951. Upon graduation, Verlene began her 40+ year career at the Hastings Regional Center, where she held a number of positions before retiring as the Payroll Department Administrator.

Verlene married Chester Dale True, Sr. on June 13, 1953 in Hastings, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2010. She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings and enjoyed traveling to historical places, watching all types of sports on TV, and gardening.

Verlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Chet; five sisters; and one brother.
