Hastings resident, Vern D. Tindall, Jr., 87, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Private family services will be held at a later date and there will be no viewing or visitation.
Vern was born January 29, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Vern & Gladys (Gregg) Tindall, Sr. He graduated from Lincoln High School. Vern joined the Army in 1942 and was in World War II, he was discharged from the Army in 1946. He married Verna Marion Lien on May 2, 1943 in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. In 1953, they moved from Aurora to Lincoln and then moved to Hastings in 1960. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as an engineer and retired in 1983. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Burlington Veterans, and was a past member of the Masonic Lodge.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Verna Marion (Lien) Tindall; 2 sisters, Jo Coleman and Jerry Worster; and 1 son-in-law.
