Vicky Hittner

Hastings resident Vicky Hittner, 75, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 6, at Evangelical Free Church in Hastings with Pastor Matt Sass and Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 5, at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church. Vicky was born May 15, 1948, in Hastings, NE to Marie (Schroeder) Stelzer. She graduated from Hastings High School and attended Hastings College. Vicky married Donald J. Hittner on December 17, 1967; he preceded her in death on January 23, 1993. 

Vicky was a dedicated homemaker raising her three children. She later went on to be a secretary at Keystone Baptist Church and a teller at Heritage Bank in Hastings. She attended the Evangelical Free Church in Hastings. 

Vicky and Don loved vacationing in Colorado with their family, and she carried on that tradition even after his passing, finding her happiest moments in the simple pleasures of sipping coffee and listening to a mountain stream. They passed that love for adventure on to their children, and their family will continue to explore God’s creations in their honor. Vicky enjoyed spending her time with bible study groups, supporting her grandchildren, and snuggling her great-grandson. And though she was an only child, she had many sisters among her friends, all of them standing by her side through every trial and joy of her life.

Vicky was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Stelzer and husband, Donald J. Hittner.
