Viola E. Herzog, 91, of Good Samaritan Village, died Friday, December 26, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Viola E. Herzog was born May 14, 1912 in Clay County, near Sutton, Nebraska to Albert & Mary (Frenzen) Goesch. She attended grade school in Fillmore County and graduated in 1929 from Sutton High School. Following graduation, she taught school near Fairmont and Sutton, Nebraska. On June 3, 1931, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Herzog of Edgar, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1998. They resided on a farm between Edgar and Sutton and later on farms in Fillmore, York and Clay Counties. While living in Fillmore County, she was active in Extension Club and was a 4-H Sewing Club Leader. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday School, sewing, and taking part in the women's organizations. In 1976, they retired in Hastings, Nebraska and in 1993, moved to Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Viola E. Herzog was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles and a great grandson, Lucas Jalas in 1997.
