Former Hastings resident, Violet Lucille Chatterson, 90, of Ravenna Good Samaritan Nursing Home Ravenna, Nebraska, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at Ravenna Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Services will be Saturday, November 29, 2003; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Dean Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery, Inland, Nebraska.
Violet L. Chatterson was born February 15, 1913 in Clay County, near Harvard, Nebraska to Edward & Clara Genschmer. She was a grade school teacher in one-room schools in the sand hills and near Inland, Nebraska. On November 12, 1936, she married Dan W. Chatterson and raised four children on farms in south central Nebraska. She was active in the Methodist Church, Extension club and 4-H. She was known for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, her skillful sewing and quilting and delicious cooking. She was proud to be a Charter Member of the Nebraska State Quilters Guild and also the first place medal she won in the 80 year old division of the Bolder Boulder 10K walk/run. Her final years were spent in the loving environment of Ravenna Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Violet L. Chatterson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dan, two brothers and three sisters and one granddaughter.
