Former Glenvil resident, Virgil H. Fredricks, 95, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare.
Services will be Friday, February 17, 2012; 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be Friday, February 17, 2012; 2:00 P.M. in Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012; 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Thursday, February 16, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church & Goldbeck Towers.
Virgil was born October 27, 1916 in Adams County, Nebraska to John & Annie (Saathoff) Fredricks. He graduated from Fairfield High School. Virgil married Mildred Yost on May 22, 1940 in Glenvil, Nebraska; she preceded him in death in March 2007. He was a farmer in the Glenvil area until he retired and moved to Glenvil in 1976. In 1998, he and his wife moved to the Goldbeck Towers where Virgil volunteered and sang in small groups. Virgil was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, where he was a member of the choir for many years; and was a current member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, square dancing, and playing cards.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Fredricks; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and sister, Helen Frickey.
