Virginia Svoboda

Hastings resident, Virginia Mary Svoboda, 90, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 13, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Alex Borzych officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Altar Society.

Virginia was born February 4, 1924 in Farwell, Nebraska to Edward & Martha (Horky) Borzych. She attended Farwell Public Schools and graduated from Farwell High School. She attended St. Paul Business College. Virginia worked for the Federal Land Bank in St. Paul and she was the accountant at Worthing Motors in Hastings. She married Albert C. Svoboda February 3, 1951; he preceded her in death on October 1, 1990. Virginia was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Saints Quilting group. She was a member of the Mary Lanning Healthcare Auxiliary and the United Commercial Travelers Auxiliary.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edward Borzych; and sister Rosemary Tibbles.
