Hastings resident, Volon "Vonnie" Rose Meyer, 78, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Monday, September 5, 2016; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Greg Pawloski and Father Mark Maresh officiating and Deacon John Willmes assisting. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family or St. Michael's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, September 5, 2015; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Volon was born September 13, 1937, in Orange, California to Elmer and Amelia (Beiriger) Willmes. She lived in California until the age of 5 before her parents moved to Roseland, Nebraska. She moved to Kenesaw, Nebraska during high school and graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1955.
She married Robert Meyer, Sr. in 1959 in Kenesaw, Nebraska. They had two sons and one daughter.
She spent many years working in childcare. She enjoyed flowers, watching television and reading books and newspapers. She also enjoyed time with family especially her grandchildren.
Volon was preceded in death by her mother on July 10, 2010 and her father on May 18, 1975.
