Walter Buhr

Services will be Monday, October 29, 2007; 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. William Nottage Tacey officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2007; 6 P.M.-9 P.M., Saturday, October 27, 2007; 9 A.M.-9 P.M., Sunday, October 28, 2007; 1 P.M.-9 P.M at the funeral home & Monday, October 29, 2007; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family.

Mr. Buhr was born to Louis & Insina (Bohlen) Buhr on January 4, 1923 in Pauline, Nebraska. He grew up in the Glenvil-Pauline area. He attended District 4 of Pauline to the 8th grade. Walter married Lula Mae Lindemann, his loving wife of 60 years on August 19, 1947 in Holdrege, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army with the 42nd Infantry (Rainbow) Division during WWII, serving in France & Germany from May 20, 1944 until April 20, 1946. When he returned from the service, he farmed all his life in the Pauline-Roseland area. After retirement, they moved to Hastings. Walter was a member of the District 26 school board, member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Hastings, where he served as Elder and Trustee. Later, he became a member of the First Presbyterian church, V.F.W., Rainbow Division Veterans Memorial Foundation and the American Legion of Glenvil.

Mr. Buhr was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alvin Buhr and four sisters, Mrs. Wilford 'Bill' Bertha Kort, Mrs. Chris 'Gertie' Estergarrd, Mrs. Louis 'Louise' Stromer and Mrs. Donald 'Don' Darlene Stromer.
