Former Lawrence resident, Walter F. Pohlmeier, 94, of Perkins Pavilion, died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Perkins Pavilion, Hastings, NE.
Rosary will be Tuesday, September 6, 2005; 10:00 A.M. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loras Grell officiating. Burial with military rites by Kemp Kailey Post #45, Lawrence, Nebraska will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska.
Mr. Pohlmeier was born May 13, 1911 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Joseph & Mary (Gilsdorf) Pohlmeier. He was a cook in the United States Army, serving from October 22,1942 to December 6,1945, mostly in the Phillippines. He farmed near Lawrence, Nebraska and later managed/operated and cooked at a restaurant in Lawrence. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, all in Lawrence, Nebraska. He was also a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He moved from Lawrence to Hastings, Nebraska in 1997.
Mr. Pohlmeier was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Albert, Ernest, Ralph, William and twin brother, George and two sisters, Eleanor and Margie.
