Hastings resident, Warren H. Sorenson, 85, of 2723 W. 9th St., died Friday, May 19, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 23, 2006; 2:00 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, Nebraska. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Mr. Sorenson was born April 26, 1921 in Dazey, North Dakota to Michael & Hilda (Tunney) Sorenson. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska with his family and attended schools in Hastings. He served in the United States Army during WWII from August 19, 1942 until October 28, 1945. On March 25, 1945, he married Edna C. Polenske in Kansas. After his discharge, he returned to the Hastings area and worked for Lever Wrench in Glenvil and later as a salesman for Foote Tire Company. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and American Legion. He was a life member of Elks, Eagles, V.F.W. and D.A.V. where he was past State Commander. He was also a member of the Adams County Veterans Burial Detail for many years. He coached little league & pony league baseball and had been a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts at Zion Lutheran Church.
Mr. Sorenson was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
