Wauneta Beiriger

Former Hastings resident, Wauneta (Kent) Beiriger, 92 passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Hospice House, Omaha, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 29, 2016; 1:00 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice House - The Josie Harper Residence, www.hospicehouseomaha.org. Visitation will be Thursday, July 28, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Wauneta was born July 1, 1924 to George and Nellie (Searl) Kent in Lawrence, Nebraska. She married Irvin J. Beiriger on July 25, 1944 in Hastings, Nebraska. Wauneta grew up in Hastings and was a homemaker while raising her sons. She worked in numerous church and community volunteer groups during that time.

She was later employed in the Adams County Clerk's office until moving to Denver in 1973, living there until 1985. While living in Denver, she was employed by the Aurora National Bank, retiring when they returned to Hastings. In 2005, Wauneta and Irvin moved to Omaha to be closer to family. Wauneta was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Wauneta was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harold, Wallace, Richard and Wyona (Kennedy); husband; and her grandson, Bryan C. Beiriger.
