Wauneta M. Steely, a lifetime area resident, died peacefully at the Perkins Pavilion, Hastings, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

Services will be Friday, April 24, 2009; 11:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings or First Lutheran Church Organ Fund, Moline IL. Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2009, 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Steely was born December 30, 1918 in Kenesaw, Nebraska to Ervan Wade & Margaret (Booth) Morrison. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1936. On December 24, 1941, she married Wayne A. Steely and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1995. She worked for the firm of E. Bengsten CPA, the Veterans Administration Employment Service and for many years as receptionist and bookkeeper for Nelson Electric Company, Hastings.

Mrs. Steely was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters, Cecile Rosenberg, Faith Nelson and a brother, The Rev. C. William Morrison.

The family would like to publicly thank mother's caregivers; Drs. French, Dietz, Bohlen and Chingren; along with home health aides; Barb Whitten and the staff of Caring Hands. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Perkins Pavilion.

Sons &Daughter-in-law: Stephen Steely - Moline, IL
Dr. John & Marilyn Steely - Eagan, MN
Grandchildren: Jerry & Jessica
Nieces, Nephews and their children.
