Hastings resident, Wava Williams, 85, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, January 21, 2017; 1:00 P.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Kent Rogers and Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Wava was born June 28, 1931 to Wilbur & Jennie (Bunny) Long in Oberlin, Kansas. She graduated from Oberlin High School in May of 1949. Wava attended Denver Business College from 1949-1951. She married Merle G. Williams on March 7, 1953; he preceded her in death on October 22, 2004.
Wava was the Director of Food Services for Hastings Public Schools for 24 years and she worked for Head Start for 16 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and volunteered at Pooh Corner daycare.
Wava was preceded in death by her husband, Merle G. Williams; son, Mark Williams; parents, Wilbur & Jennie Long; sister, Emma Frickey; and brother, Elden Long.
