Wayne Brannagan

Hastings resident, Wayne E. Brannagan, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at his home.

Rosary will be Monday, April 6, 2015; 9:30 A.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, take someone you love out for ice cream. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2015; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., Saturday, April 4, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to rosary at the church.

Wayne was born at home on December 2, 1934 in Adams County, Nebraska, son of Arvene Grover & Theresa (Phillips) Brannagan. He was baptized at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings. He attended country school, later moving to rural Trumbull and Doniphan farms where he graduated from Doniphan High School in 1952. On September 6, 1954 he married Joan L. Carpenter at St. Patrick's Parish, Highland, Nebraska. To this union five children were born. Wayne worked on the McCall Brother's Ranch, Kiekheifer Container Co. which later merged with Weyerhauser Co. He moved to Carpentersville, Illinois for Weyerhauser and returned in 1964 to work for Mike Kent Trucking. He later founded Major Oil Sales, Inc. and worked until his retirement.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Paustian; infant brother, Francis; in-laws, Hughie & Verla Carpenter; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Joyce & Gale Boroff; and sister-in-law, Mary Carpenter.
