Former Hastings resident Wayne L. Ganow, 89, passed away January 17, 2025, in Bellingham, WA.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 27, at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings with Rev. Greg Allen-Pickett officiating. The burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, January 26, with family present 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home; and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church. Wayne was born on December 18, 1935, in Douglas, WY, to Earl and Leona (Ullom) Ganow. After graduating from high school, he attended the Dental College at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating at the age of 21. He married Celia Madsen on November 27, 1957; she preceded him in death on February 28, 2020. Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force as a dentist and had the rank of Captain.
Wayne moved to Hastings and opened his own practice. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was very involved. Wayne and Celia did a lot of mission work, going to the Dominican Republic and many other places. He traveled around the country for dental boards. Wayne was very involved in helping future dentists and dental hygienists. He was involved in prison fellowships in Nebraska. Wayne worked for a free dental clinic from 2005 until 2020 in Nebraska.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Celia Ganow; and two sisters.
