Hastings resident, Wilber D. 'Bud' Parks, 78, of 1002 Jefferson Avenue, died Friday, October 10, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital after a 14 year battle with heart disease.
Services will be Monday, October 13, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Adam White officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Family Choice. Visitation will be Saturday, October 11, 2008; 1:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Sunday, October 12, 2008; 1:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. with family present from 3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. and Monday October 13, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service, all at the funeral home.
Mr. Parks was born May 29, 1930 in Glenvil, Nebraska to Tillman & Ida Lillie (Haymart) Parks. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1948 and married Erma Uhrmacher on April 9, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church southwest of Hastings. He worked for Meadow Gold Dairy for 19 years and then had his own delivery business for 13 years called Bud's Home Delivery. He retired in 1992. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club. Bud had lots of fun camping with his grandkids, fishing, watching TV and reading.
Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Duane.
